For each of the 4 materials (steel, aluminium, copper and plastic), we:
- Mapped the main production processes and associated uses of energy
- Calculated emissions depending on process used, energy source, and electricity mix
- Identified relevant process changes, innovations or substitutions which could reduce emission
CASE STUDY: SCOPE 3
Scope 3 CO2e emissions reduction, for a Fortune 500 automotive company
We focused on finding suppliers, collecting data about their processes and emissions, and R&D initiatives ; we estimated volumes available under given CO2e / t thresholds for each material, and evaluated the feasibility of increasing secondary content vs. primary.
